Being able to grow your own food, and sell it if you desire, should be recognized as a vital tenant of freedom. Western countries are limiting this right based on ideas of "safety" and it is a real detriment to their countries.

I have read that it is illegal in the UK to feed your chickens table scraps out of concern for "safety". This limits chickwn owners to being reliant on industrial made, and very expensive, bagged food which is not the best overall nutrition for chickens. Thus, I have heard of many not getting into or leaving having chickens and then not having an independent food source.

One of the major reasons I moved from America to Kosovo was being able to have more freedom to grow and raise our own food.

I have seen on YouTube the cheap prices of food in the UK. Unfortunately, I did not experience that on my recent visit back to America. I was shocked how expensive everything has become and don't know how people can afford it.

In Kosovo, yes, grocery store items (especially more "modern" processed foods) can be more expensive. Meat is more expensive. Canned goods are rare and very expensive because they are rarely used here. But for the basic, traditional foods prices are still extremely reasonable here. Actually, our local markets for produce can be more expensive! But they are fresher and most people still think they are worth it. The grocery stores may have cheap produce, but it is rarely good.

Good article. I am a strong proponent of local markets and love to see them being praised.
