Check out Blogging Theology on YouTube for a British man who converted and still seems very British.

I am American from a family with strong Celtic roots and grew up in a rural community in the Upper Midwest. I did not change my name or my culture. I follow the rules of Islam within how I was raised. I still love Celtic and Roman history and Western literature as much as I always did. I just have a broader picture of the world now and a different standard to judge things by.

Now, if you read my stuff you will see I did move to Europe (Kosovo) and have embraced living within the Albanian culture, but I did not do this because of being a Muslim. I did it because of my husband, who is originally from here. But still, I have not given up my own interests. There is no need for me to.

I too was all alone and knew no other Muslims at the start. Allah had shown me Islam as the true path as well and I told Him I couldn't do it alone. If He wanted me to follow him, he need to change things for me. The man I would eventually marry moved into my apartment building two weeks later. I did not know he was Muslim when I first started getting to know him and fell for him. But later it was clear that Allah had provided me with what I had asked for.

Be open and tell Allah what you need to be a Muslim. You will be surprised how He answers you, inshallah.

Also, don't worry about all the rules right now. You are right that Islam is a system. And systems need to be learned. You can't expect to be a perfect Muslim right away. As you grow in your Islam, it becomes easier. I have been a convert for 20 years. I can tell you, it has not always been an easy road and I have not done everything right. I am still learning. But Allah is merciful.

I pray you accept the truth. It sounds like you are already there except for needing support. I pray Allah brings that to you.
