I have had too much experience with death and funerals. First-hand knowledge. At the age of 34, I was widowed and had to deal with my husband’s death and plan his funeral. That is my most personal experience, though I have certainly lost other loved ones as well. Though most of us will have to have this experience at one time or another, I do not wish it on anyone.
In my previous job as a church secretary, I also had to work closely with church members, the pastor, and the local funeral directors on planning the funerals that the church I worked for hosted. So funerals and their customs are something I know a bit about.
Death is an unavoidable part of life, but that doesn’t make it any easier. It also makes it something people are endlessly curious about. I recently saw this question being asked on the internet and I thought it deserved an answer. Since I have had quite a bit of experience along with some knowledge, I thought I would.
