I believe her and that her difficulties were the result of racism. This was not an isolated incident. It isn't like black women are respected every other day of the week and then boom! this happened.

The Balkans have a history and current problem with racism. And shamefully, even though Turkey has a Muslim culture (the religion forbids racism), they are no exception.

Those of us in the Balkans (Christian, Muslim, or other) and as well as Muslims in general need to do better. Some of us recognize it and are trying to teach others. Inshallah things will change. But it only will if we listen and believe the victims!
