I too have always had a thing for older, brooding men (I even married one). Because of this, Rebecca has always been one of my favorite books and movies. The 1940 version with Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier has always been my favorite. I have not yet seen the Netflix version, but everything I have read has not inspired me to either. So sad as it is a fascinating story. It could have ended up being amazing if only the creators had the guts to explore the hard questions about male/female and victim/abuser relationships. Once again, Hollywood fails.
