My Big Decision

Ever since I married my husband, I have known one thing for sure (other than that I love him and am glad I married him.) I want to move and live in his home country.

He is originally from Kosovo. If you are not sure where that is, don’t feel bad. I had to look it up when I first met him.

Kosovo was a part of Yugoslavia. Now it is it’s own (disputed by some) country. It is a beautiful place filled with people who have a rich culture. Without ever even setting foot there, I knew I wanted to live there.

Through the years I knew this was my desire, but then the world and everyone else would talk me out of it. And I would let them.

About four years ago, my husband and I decided to take the plunge. I made all sorts of plans and carefully budgeted for it. It was so exciting. Unfortunately, it never moved beyond being more than an idea.

My husband was talking about the move to a friend of ours. Afterward, the friend told me that he didn’t think my husband wished to move. Instead of talking to my husband about it, I simply gave up the idea there and then. I did not…
