NaNoWriMo + Medium = the beginning of a writer’s life
Today is November 1. Normally here in Wisconsin it would be a day of crisp leaves flying on a cool breeze. The smell of an evening campfire from across the street would waft even through closed windows. I would be wearing a warm, cozy sweater and bake a fresh baked apple pie.
Not this year. This year we have snow. We were hit with a few inches this week. Winter has begun the earliest I ever remember. My husband has already shoveled us out more than once. Today as I sit and write, I can hear the snow and ice falling off my roof instead of the dry leaves blowing in the wind. No campfires in this weather. But I am wearing a sweater and still might bake that apple pie…
NaNoWriMo
There is something else that happens on this day and thankfully, the weather has no effect on it. It is a yearly event in the writing world. The beginning of National Novel Writing Month (aka NaNoWriMo). This year, it is also the beginning of a Medium challenge that Shaunta Grimes has put out there to her followers. I intend to complete both of them. I am a bit nuts.
NaNoWriMo is a huge deal. Though somehow it also seems to be one of the best kept secrets of the internet. I have only met a couple of people in real life who even knew what it is, and they all talk about it in hushed voices and…
