Thank you for this article. I am so sorry it comes from a place of so much pain but oddly enough, you have made me smile. You helped me recall some wonderful memories from my childhood of my fat, single mother and when my brother and I got lice. I was so grossed out by them. I was 8. There was a breakout at school. I have never thought about if my mom was worried people would see her as dirty and the lice being her fault since she was fat. I bet she did. People are so cruel. Well, I can tell you that I am not ashamed of my mother for being fat. She is a wonderful woman who gave her all to raise my brother and I and I don’t know what I would do without her. I am sure your daughter will feel that way too. ❤ (And I refuse to think that “fat" is an insult. In my family we have reclaimed that word!)
