That would require for most of them to actually admit that the Bible wasn't written in English and for people who were not American. They give lip service to it being translated, but they believe 100% that English translations are correct and inspired by God. As a Theology student in a conservative Christian college, I was taught this. It is believed by that denomination that the NIV version (other denominations may like different ones) was translated by knowledgeable scholars who were led by the Holy Spirit to make an error free translation. Therefore you can "just trust what you are being told and don't need any other knowledge outside that translation (the only approved one) and your pastor." Bible scholarship is hard. So they seem to make it easy for "ordinary" people, when in reality they are controlling and manipulating the information. And that is the problem with any system of belief where the masses rely on a central authority as their only source of knowledge and understanding.
