Up north (Mitrovica) is always dicey, according to the news. But I suspect some of that gets inflated for views. Though it is undeniable that some very real things have happened that make people uneasy. I live in the southeast and you would have no idea there was a problem if it wasn't for the news. There are no incidents. We live not too far from a significant Serbian population and everyone gets along. We sometimes stop at one of their markets and everyone is friendly. There are stores owned by Albanians that stock food the Serbs like. I have met police officers who are Serb. There certainly isn't full integration as many Serbs do not speak Albanian and I can't say the groups socialize together, but there aren't the tensions the news tries to say are happening everywhere. It is a live-and-let-live attitude anywhere outside of Mitrovica.
