Your example of unmarried mothers in the black American community lends credence to what the article says. Generations of families of enslaved black people were separated and mothers forced to raise their children alone. The problem was continued as black men were more at risk for being incarcerated and otherwise separated from their families. This is a perfect example of generational trauma that continues because of both the cultural trauma and also because systemic racism contributes to it.
